Drive Lane operates under the Mainline Standard. The list below is what every approved driver agrees to, and what disqualifies an applicant before review even starts.

Have these ready before you start. We verify each item during review, and your offer letter will state your exact rate and deposit before you sign.

  • Valid US driver's license (expiring 6+ months out)
  • Active driver on DoorDash, Uber Eats, Instacart, Grubhub, Uber, or Lyft, or in-progress on signup
  • Background check consent
  • Refundable deposit (starts at $250 for qualified drivers)
Driver requirements

  • Minimum age 21
  • Valid, active, unrestricted US driver's license
  • Minimum 3 years of licensed driving experience
  • Active driver on DoorDash, Uber Eats, Instacart, Grubhub, Uber, or Lyft (or in-progress on signup)
  • Smartphone capable of running delivery and rideshare apps
  • Lives or operates in DC, Maryland, or Virginia

  • GPS device installed and calibrated
  • Documented photo + video handoff at pickup
  • Fuel and tolls during your weekly use
  • Routine cleaning and interior care
  • Reporting issues immediately
  • Returning the vehicle in inspection-ready condition
Payment requirements

  • Refundable security deposit (starting at $250, based on driver profile)
  • First-week payment before pickup
  • Bank account or debit card enrolled in weekly auto-pay
  • Sufficient funds for weekly auto-pay
Conduct requirements

  • Drive Lane vehicles are single-driver only
  • Delivery and rideshare work allowed (DoorDash, Uber Eats, Instacart, Uber, Lyft, Spark, Amazon Flex, etc.)
  • No personal use outside the agreed scope
  • No smoking or vaping in the vehicle
  • No transporting hazardous materials
  • Adhere to all traffic laws: tickets and tolls are your responsibility
  • Report any accident immediately, regardless of fault
Disqualifying factors

  • DUI/DWI in the past 7 years
  • Reckless driving in the past 5 years
  • Hit and run in the past 7 years
  • Vehicular felony, auto theft, or insurance fraud
  • More than 1 at-fault accident in the past 3 years
  • More than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years
  • Suspended, revoked, expired, or restricted license
  • Identity verification failure or false documents
  • Failure to satisfy insurer requirements
  • Inability to commit to weekly auto-pay
